Why Pasticceria Lorena Stands Apart for Authentic Luxury Italian Wedding Cakes
When planning your wedding, every detail counts—and few elements leave as lasting an impression on your guests as your wedding cake and dessert display. If you are searching for something truly extraordinary, authentic, and utterly delicious for your big day, we offer an experience like no other across Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire, and Leicestershire.
I am Lorena, an Italian Pastry Chef, with a passion for bringing the rich culinary heritage and elegance of real Italian patisserie directly to some of the region’s finest luxury wedding venues.
Here is why we feel Pasticceria Lorena stands in a league of its own for couples looking to create an unforgettable sweet experience on their big day.
Deep Italian Heritage & Uncompromising Authenticity
At Pasticceria Lorena, food isn’t just a service—it’s an inherent love affair and the beating heart of family life. Growing up with Italian cuisine has always given me a real passion for cooking and many of the recipes I use at home have been passed down through generations.
Unlike conventional wedding cake makers or Italian inspired cake makers who rely heavily on sugar paste, heavy buttercream, or thick fondant icing, I stay entirely true to classic Italian methods. By combining traditional recipes with the finest authentic Italian ingredients, every bake provides a genuine taste of Italy—light, decadent, and bursting with flavour.
Signature Italian Wedding Cakes: Millefoglie & Pan di Spagna
If you want your wedding centrepiece to be a true conversation starter, you need a wedding cake that delivers pure art on a plate, as well as tasting as good as it looks.
I specialise in authentic, dessert-style Italian wedding cakes that bypass traditional heavy icings in favour of fresh, delicate textures:
The Show-Stopping Millefoglie: Crisp, delicate layers of puff pastry layered with silky, and decadent pastry cream (crema pasticciera). For the ultimate "WOW" factor, I even offer live assembly at your venue in front of you and your guests!
Pan di Spagna: A feather-light Italian sponge cake soaked with exquisite liqueur syrups and layered with luxurious creams.
Instead of fondant or artificial colouring, my authentic Italian signature style is to adorn these grand cakes with vibrant fresh berries, delicate meringues, mini pastries, rich chocolate, and elegant fresh or faux flowers styled to complement your wedding style.
Decadent Italian Dessert Tables & Pasticcini
For couples who want to indulge their guests with a luxurious tasting experience, my Italian Dessert Tables which contain a variety of traditional Italian pasticceria, is the perfect choice.
Rather than standard dessert buffets, I create a visually stunning, fully styled display featuring:
Pasticcini: Handcrafted Italian mini patisseries (1.5” to 2.5” bites of heaven) filled with rich pastry creams, fruit, and fine Italian liqueurs. Perfectly paired with a glass of Prosecco!
Towers of Tiramisu: Elegantly presented in champagne glasses for an added touch of luxury.
Cannoli, Choux Pastries, and Tortes: Traditional bites that allow your guests to sample a true variety of Italian delights.
The Personal Touch - Tasting Consultations
Far from the current trend of cake samples in the post and online Zoom calls, my preference as your pastry chef is to meet you in person and let you sample my work over a tea, coffee and a chat about your special day. For me the tasting and planning should feel just as luxurious as the end result, so my in-person consultations are always the added extra service that you can expect. Not only do you get to try some delicious samples, we also get the time to discuss your wedding plans together and make sure every detail is covered for your big day.
Serving Luxury Venues Across Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire & Leicestershire
Based in Nottinghamshire, Pasticceria Lorena has become known as the preferred choice for high-end, unique wedding cakes across the East Midlands. Whether you are getting married at a grand stately home like Norwood Park or Stubton Hall, a secluded private country estate, or a luxury boutique hotel in Derbyshire or Leicestershire, I can deliver bespoke styling and a flawless service tailored to your venue's atmosphere.
A Personal, 'Front and Centre' Approach
Your wedding day is one of the most important days of your life. When you book with me, you aren't just ordering a cake, you are entrusting an artisan who treats your wedding with the same care, passion, and attention to detail as if it were her own.
I pride myself on putting every couple 'Front and Centre', designing handcrafted creations tailored specifically to your tastes and vision. The result? A centrepiece that not only looks breathtaking on display, but one that you and your guests will eagerly devour.
Here are the questions I am often asked about my authentic luxury Italian wedding cakes and dessert tables.
Do you make traditional fondant or buttercream tiered cakes?
No. I specialise exclusively in authentic Italian cakes and desserts. Traditional Italian wedding cakes—such as Millefoglie and Pan di Spagna—are fresh, light, dessert-style cakes that cannot be tiered using heavy fondant, sugar paste, or buttercream. Instead, I use fresh creams, fruits, meringues, and fine Italian liqueurs for a light, delicious, and natural finish.
What areas do you cover for wedding deliveries?
I am based in Nottinghamshire and provide bespoke wedding cake and dessert table services across luxury wedding venues in Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire, and Leicestershire. Delivery and venue setup are arranged as part of your tailored wedding booking.
How far in advance should we book our wedding cake or dessert table?
Because each creation is handcrafted by myself to maintain the highest quality and detail, wedding bookings fill up quickly. It is recommended to get in touch 6 to 18 months in advance to secure your date, especially for peak wedding seasons. Please note I do not book weddings further than 18 months in advance.
How many mini pastries (pasticcini) should we order per guest for a dessert table?
Because pasticcini are bite-sized delights (around 1.5” to 2.5” in size), it is usually recommended to cater 2 to 3 pastries per guest. This gives your guests the opportunity to sample a variety of distinct flavors and provides the equivalent of a full, generous dessert portion.
What is live assembly for the Millefoglie cake?
Live assembly is one of my signature experiences! For couples choosing a grand Millefoglie, I can assemble the crisp pastry layers, luscious pastry cream, and fresh fruit decoration live at your venue right in front of you and your wedding guests. It creates an unforgettable interactive showpiece before cake cutting.
