ROMANTIC SUMMER WEDDING

The wedding of Stacey and Luke

I don’t often write real wedding blogs, but I couldn’t pass up the opportunity when these fantastic images of Stacey and Luke’s wedding day dropped into my inbox!

Where do I start……Stacey first contacted me around 2 years prior to her wedding and we had a lovely chat over the phone. We connected instantly as she is a lady after my own heart who decided that desserts would be a priority on her wedding day. “Luke and I just LOVE desserts and so when I saw what you do, I knew I had to get in touch right away!” I could hear the excitement in her voice as we discussed a potential dessert table full of Italian patisserie and cake.

Around 9 months prior to their big day, Luke and Stacey came to me for their consultation and tasting appointment, such an adorable couple, I could tell instantly that not only would their wedding be timeless and elegant, but their day would be relaxed and injected with fun mirroring their gorgeous personalities. They were so excited to try my desserts and I won’t lie, they found it somewhat difficult to narrow down their choices…I think they wanted everything! But after a long chat we finalised their menu, they chose my mini Tiramisu, my new Ferrero Rocher inspired min trifles, my limoncello bigne, Rum baba and my light and summery mini pavlova. Their Feature cake was to be a traditional pan di spagna drizzled with rum syrup and filled with a vanilla crema diplomatica. It was wrapped with a solid chocolate collar with blush marbling effect and gold leaf details, and topped with fresh summer berries, fresh flowers, and mini meringues. Half the menu including the cake was gluten-free to accommodate Luke’s gluten-free diet.  I was confident what they had chosen was going to be a big hit with their guests and this dessert table would have the ‘WOW’ factor they were looking for.

After months of waiting, the big day arrived, and what a glorious day it was, it felt like the first day of summer, as it was the first bright, warm, and sunny day of the year. Their big beaming smiles had brought along the sunshine.

Stacey looked gorgeous in an elegant princess fit gown by Stella York, with a loose updo and scattered floral hair jewellery, with complementary pearl embellished shoes by Charlotte Mills. Her look was completed by her stunning pastel flower bouquet by the very talented Gigil & Bloom that screamed of summer romance.

Luke looked very dapper in his Cavani suit and bless him the nerves were evident as he awaited his adorable little blue-eyed daughter Jennifer and Stacey to walk down the Aisle, but these all melted away once he laid eyes on their huge smiles. They had a beautiful outdoor ceremony under the pergola and amongst the blooming gardens at Norwood, what a fantastic setting for heartfelt vows shared with family, friends and even their beloved pooches.

After the ceremony, everyone relaxed in the sunshine with drinks, canapes and lawn games, as the happy couple enjoyed some time alone with the photographer Laura in tow capturing natural, heartwarming shots of them both.

The wedding breakfast room had an elegant and romantic feel with styling by Princess Occasions and the natural light beaming through the grand windows of the stunning gallery space.

All of this of course was happening as I was busy creating, baking and decorating 250 mini desserts and finishing their traditional Italian feature cake. As I arrived to set up, the wedding breakfast was in full flow and the atmosphere was relaxed and everyone was enjoying themselves. I busied myself, first adding some beautiful fresh flowers to their cake and then laying all the stands and desserts, adding some lovely accessories to complete the look tying all their décor together.

Without blowing my own trumpet too much, I think the table speaks for itself and I cannot thank Laura the photographer enough for capturing it so beautifully. It attracted quite a lot of attention from guests with several sighs and the icing on the cake (pardon the pun) was the bride and groom’s reaction and kind words.

“Thank you so much- words cannot describe how amazing the dessert table you created for us was. It was what we dreamed of and more and we are so grateful, it was incredible. There have been soooo many compliments from our guests too. We also saved the cake for the following morning and ate a huge chunk of it between us on the way to the airport, so we are very glad we didn’t leave it for everyone else to eat!!”

What people don’t notice is the massive smile and sense of joy this brings to my face, being entrusted to contribute to the most special day in a couple’s life, is such an honour and privilege. It’s just the best job in the world!!!
