IT’S ALL IN THE TASTING!

You have been following me on socials and can envision your perfect Italian Wedding cake or dessert table, but you want to see if the taste lives up to the hype! Rightly so!

Of course it has to look good because as the saying goes ‘You eat with your eyes first’ but let’s be honest, taste has to come first, because after all, savouring the taste of that special cake and smelling those rich indulgent aromas, should live in your memory bank as one of the most special parts of your wedding day.

At Pasticceria Lorena, tasting is a very important part of the process, that’s why I invite all of my couples to attend a TASTING AND CONSULTATION APPOINTMENT. This sounds very formal but it’s super relaxed, a bit like having a lovely afternoon tea and a chat with me, so let me tell you all you need to know about this service and the experience of booking your wedding cake or dessert table with Pasticceria Lorena.

STEP ONE: FILL OUT MY ENQUIRY FORM

If you have booked your venue, you have seen my work and feel I might be the right fit for your wedding day, then the first step is to fill out my enquiry form on my website. There are a few different forms depending on whether your are interested in my Millefoglie or Pan di Spagna wedding cakes or a dessert table. Ensure you select the right one and fill it in with as much detail as you can. If I am available for your wedding date and what you are looking for is the right fit for my services, then I will invite you to attend an in-person TASTING AND CONSULATION APPOINTMENT.

STEP TWO: ATTEND A TASTING AND CONSULTATION APPOINTMENT.

Before your visit, I will ask a few questions regarding your likes, dislikes, dietary requirements, and anything you would particularly like to sample, so that I can prepare the perfect tasting platter for you. If you are opting for a dessert table your tasting platter will usually consist of 3 different pasticcini options and one cake option. If you would however prefer to opt for a wedding cake only, your tasting platter will consist of 3 different wedding cake options/flavours.

The tasting appointment happens in the comfort of my very own consultation space at my base in Nottingham, where you have an hour of my undivided attention to discuss your dream dessert table or wedding cake. In this time, I like to get to know you and all about your plans for your wedding day as you enjoy your delicious samples with tea or coffee. I will then expertly guide you through lots of options and creative ideas, giving you my professional opinion whilst listening to your wishes and together we will design your perfect cake or dessert table, that combines delicious taste with exceptional presentation.

STEP THREE: PROPOSAL AND QUOTE

After your appointment, I will put together a comprehensive document outlining everything we have discussed along with inspiration images for you to envision your dream wedding cake or dessert table. This document will also include a full quote with a breakdown of the cost of my services. At this stage nothing is set in stone, I am always happy to answer any further questions, discuss alterations/changes, because I am happy when you are happy.

STEP FOUR: BOOK MY SERVICES

At this stage you have tasted the goods, you have seen what I can offer, you have considered your estimate/quote. It’s a no brainer! You just have to book!! So I ask you for a booking fee to secure your date. Then you can sit back, relax and feel secure in the knowledge you have hired an expert who cares as much about your wedding day as she did her own. Yes, you read that right….you see for me this is more than just a job that pays a wage. Weddings, and creating spectacular and memorable wedding cakes and dessert tables are my true passion.

STEP FIVE: HOLDING HANDS

After you have booked my services, and you are happy with our plan for your wedding cake/dessert table, I will help with any recommendations for other trusted suppliers you may need (I have an excellent little black book of very talented wedding suppliers across Nottinghamshire, Leicestershire and Derbyshire, that I have loved collaborating with over years of working in the industry). Closer to your wedding date, I will finalise all the little details with you, from your guests dietary needs and numbers to creative choices such as cake stands, colour schemes, and little personal touches. I will also liasie with your venue and your other suppliers, to ensure every little detail regarding the design and set up of your dessert table or Wedding cake is perfect. Quite literally my job is to hold your hand through this journey, to make it a smooth and stress-free as possible. Your final bill will then be issued one month prior to your big day.

STEP SIX: WATCH THE MAGIC HAPPEN!

The days leading up to your wedding, my sole focus is you and preparing the most delicious and beautiful cakes. On the day of your wedding, all you need to focus on is having the most incredible day. You may or may not notice me quietly setting up depending on what time you have asked me to arrive and what you have asked me to create. If its a dessert table, I make sure the setting is perfectly dressed, the stands are beautifully laid and the desserts get the showstopping display they deserve. If its a Millefoglie, I will skillfully assemble the cake in front of your guests, giving your cake moment a touch of interactive theatre.

This is my favourite part of working with you, because not only do I get to see all my hard work come to fruition, I also get to (for the most part) see your gorgeous faces light up at the sight of what I have created for you and your guests delight at the thought of diving right in. If I am lucky I get to stay for the cake cutting and first taste. That moment that you and I have patiently waited for, the moment you savour the magic!

STEP SEVEN: THE PASTICCERIA LORENA EFFECT

Picture this….You are approaching your 10th wedding anniversary, you are feeling nostalgic, so you pull out your wedding photos, you stop at the picture of you and your love cutting your wedding cake, and the memories come flooding back. You close your eyes and you can smell the sweet crema pasticcera, and you can taste the flavours and textures of delicate pastry or liqueur soaked sponge. Your mouth is watering, you catch yourself smiling and you pick up the phone….and who do you call?……ME..…you call to order an anniversary cake, a smaller version of the very same cake you tried at your tasting and consultation appointment and the same special cake you devoured on your wedding day.
