A DAY TO REMEMBER: A REAL RUSTIC WEDDING

A WEDDING IN THE PLANNING

When the pictures of Georgie and Will’s special day dropped into my inbox, I just knew I had to share this wedding with you, not only were this gorgeous couple a delight to work with, but their day simply oozed with rustic elegance, love and sheer delight which is so clear from the stunning pictures by Helen Howard Photography.

G & W first contacted me during the lockdown after hearing about my Italian desserts from one of their dream team of suppliers Louise Hughes from Lush Occasions. I will come back to Louise a bit later but after G & W got engaged in Italy and they adored the Sicilian cannoli they tried there, they knew I was the right fit and the perfect way to bring a part of their love story to their wedding day.

Planning a wedding can be a daunting task in any circumstances but this couple did it through a pandemic, so needless to say our journey started with zoom meetings, emails and a tasting box and even a birthday cake, followed by an in person tasting and consultation at a later date. Despite the situation, it didn’t stop Georgie, Will and I creating a vision for a rustic, show-stopping dessert display, that became a talking point amongst all their guests.

WEDDING SUPPLIER DREAM TEAM

G & W decided to tie the knot at HANBURY WEDDING BARN, a gorgeous Staffordshire rural venue, with beautifully converted barns and idyllic lakeside outdoor spaces. On a beautiful, sunny April day, their family and friends, many of whom they had not seen since before the pandemic, came together to celebrate their big day. They chose to have a bespoke designed ceremony, written and orchestrated by Ali Flemming at Cariad Personal Ceremonies as part of which they built a Jenga block piece by piece as Ali asked each guest to write and read a message to the couple on each block. There was carefully chosen live music by harpist Laura-Rose Gee and time made to light candles to remember loved ones no longer with them.

FROCKS AND FLOWERS

Georgie looked stunning in her Enzoani dress from the Bridal Rooms in Uttoxeter, with hair by Lauren from the Beehive Bridal Hair design, and of course her look was finished beautifully with bouquet and hair florals by Kelsey at The Florist Gate in Anslow. Will and his groomsmen looked equally dapper in his deep blue suit with tweed waistcoat by Brigdens Derby.

A WEDDING STYLED TO PERFECTION

The décor for the day was designed and styled by the exceptionally talented Louise from Lush Occasions, whose eye for detail and ability to bring a rustic elegance to the barns was second to none. The ceremony space was adorned with pale blush and sage green hues and a gorgeous rustic wooden frame, draped with chiffon and floral arrangements, formed the backdrop for the couple.

After the ceremony, and time to relax with guests in the gorgeous grounds, a delicious 3 course wedding breakfast was served by Top Table Wedding & Events. G & W sat at a long top table framed by Lush occasions’ beautiful blossom trees. The room tied in beautifully with the ceremony space, as the pale blush accents, florals, gold and wooden accessories flowed throughout. I heard echoes of the speeches as I was setting up their dessert table and they certainly gained a mixture of laughter and tears and they were even followed by a game of Mr & Mrs where Georgie and Will were put to the test in their knowledge of one another!

PARTY ALL NIGHT LONG

Part of the joy of my job, is that I often get to witness a small part of my couple’s day, and this day was no exception. As I was setting up their epic 250 piece dessert table with feature wedding cake, I had the pleasure of listening to their band set up and rehearse, and what a treat it was!! This 9 piece band certainly lived up to their name The Ministry of Soul, with 3 lead female vocals that knocked my socks off I knew G & W’s guests were in for a treat!

DESSERT TABLE OF DREAMS

For their dessert table G & W chose 5 different mini patisserie including their favourite Sicilian cannoli, pavlovas, chocolate orange Bigne, Tiramisu and Crostatine di frutta. These desserts framed a heart-shaped feature cake adorned with fruit, meringues and pastries. Whilst the desserts speak for themselves, they were elevated to the next level by the foliage backdrop and rustic barrel table from Lush Occasions.

G & W went all out to treat their guests with this dessert table and making it a real feature of their evening reception meant that it became a real talking point, a treat filled grazing table and a beautiful feature for their photos.

I think these gorgeous photos by Helen Howard Photography speak volumes about G & W’s wedding story. What a stylish, fun, personal and love filled day it was!
