The traditional Millefoglie is more dessert than cake, yet this delicious and spectacular centre piece has been the Italian wedding cake of choice for many years particularly in the Northern region of Tuscany where its origins lie.
Literally translated Millefoglie means โA thousand sheetsโ referring to the multiple layers of lamination in the flaky puff pastry which forms the base of this dessert. Itโs contrasted with a creamy crema pasticcera and chantilly cream in a choice of flavours and topped with an abundance of fresh berries.
Whilst the Millefoglie may seem a humble alternative to an artistic tiered wedding cake, the theatre and beauty of it comes to life as it is assembled โLIVEโ at your venue in front of you and your guests.
It can be a beautiful experiential addition to your wedding breakfast or evening reception and you can even choose to be a part of this by finishing your cake with a dusting of icing sugar for a truly memorable photo moment.

If you are opting for a Millefoglie that is larger than 12" this requires construction on site. As part of this service, I bring everything I need with me, all your venue has to provide is a table. Construction can take anything from 30mins-1.5hours depending on the size and shape. You can choose for this to happen in front of your guests during your drinks reception, wedding breakfast or evening reception, creating a touch of theatre. The Millefoglie is constructed LIVE by Lorena, this is done in sections, layers and hand-piped. The bride and groom may also wish to participate by adding the final touches of dusting the icing sugar on the top, for a special photo moment.

The price for each cake depends on a number of factors including size and shape, decoration, distance of venue and whether or not the cake requires construction at the venue itself. As a guide you can expect to pay between ยฃ7-ยฃ9 per portion.

Cake sizes are based on dessert-portions of 2.5" square. When choosing a round millefoglie, extra is accounted for to allow for loss of rounded edges where your caterer is unable to cut a neat portion.

The millefoglie cuts well if a sharp serrated pastry knife is used. I recommend that your caterer/chef cuts the cake or you can opt for my additional 'Slice and serve' service. Please note this is a plated dessert and requires crockery and cutlery to serve it. This is something that your venue or your caterer will need to supply. I do not offer crockery or cutlery hire.

The Millefoglie is a dessert containing fresh creams and therefore should not be left on display for more than 2 hours after set up. I can deliver and set up your cake at a time that suits you and the order of the day, this should be no more than two hours prior to serving.
